JOHN BRITTON

John has worked with ESP creative Director Emma Serjeant over a number of years. Forming their creative relationship in 2004, John is the Director of ESP solo performance Grace.

John Britton is a director, performer, teacher and writer, specialising in ensemble, physical performance, interdisciplinary and improvisation.

He has directed over fifty shows and performed in about the same number. He is Artistic Director of DUENDE - an international collaboration of artists committed to ensemble practice. In 2013 he published 'Encountering Ensemble' - the first major text examining the history and contemporary meanings of ensemble in performance. He has an extensive international teaching practice, ranging from weekend workshops to extended residencies covering places, in recent years, as diverse as the Greek Island of Lesbos, the Himalayan Mountains, Stockholm, San Francisco, Mexico City, Crete, Southern France, Tamil-Nadu, Vienna, Delhi, Melbourne and many other places.
